Earthquakes are scary with babies...
We're just getting ready to carve pumpkins and the house started shaking! It lasted longer than any quake we've experienced thus far, and I ran into the babies' room ready to scoop him up and hide in a doorway, but it was over. Turns out it was a 5.6 way down near San Jose. Spooky...

Back in the saddle...
Nat scraped all the rust out of my keyboard and I'm finally using my laptop after a few months of less easy computer use. Now we're back to the familiar evening scene of both of us in our chairs in the living room, typing away, occasionally exchanging a quote from a blog or a question about travel plans. Ah, domestic life in the 21st century.
But, seriously. It has been almost a month since I blogged? Outrageous. And, no, I didn't end up accepting the job. But thanks for asking, those of you who asked. There as talk of looking into job shares and perhaps a Spring start, so doors remain open. I feel pretty much at peace and more genuinely committed to this full-time parent role, now that I know my job prospects aren't shriveling away. Baby has been super fun lately. He's trying to crawl and pull up all over the place. I think we're going to look into swim lessons, too.
We introduced him to the middle of the country and to heaps of relatives and friends last week. He rocked; slept every plane leg, was always super smiley and chattery and ready for more interaction. My Mom was remarking that he only cried once the entire trip, when his foot got twisted under him. He really is the most amazing kid ever. I joke that I prepare for the worst and always get the best...but still I prepare, just in case he operates under some sort of Murphy's law.
That's about it lately...and this computer is freezing up again. Crud.

Missing Massachusetts
Note from Mom today - "Sorry I missed your calls---I was busy this weekend. It was just beautiful here! The apple tree has big red apples all over this year, and I’d like to get up on the ladder to pick them before they hit the ground. The cows are gone from the pasture, and the corn has been harvested…It was breezy, but warm; otherwise it looks like fall."
